Clarion Borough has reopened the Leaf/Brush Collection Site at the Borough’s Public Works Building. Extra expenses will be incurred to transport the waste due to the County’s closure of the composting site at the County Park. Therefore, the Borough requests that BOROUGH RESIDENTS ONLY use this service for the purpose for which it was designed. The site is not to be used by non-residents and by landscapers hoping to save on the cost of disposing of large amounts of tree trimmings and other brush. THIS SERVICES IS PROVIDED TO BOROUGH RESIDENTS AND IS FUNDED WITH BOROUGH TAXPAYER DOLLARS.

Recently, PA DEP notified the Borough that Clarion County planned to close its composting site. In response, the Borough Council voted to temporarily close the brush pile at the Public Works building until more information could be obtained. As you know, the Borough regularly transported the brush, leaves and grass that residents take to the drop-off site to the County Park for processing.
The Borough has investigated alternate sites and has been informed that they must be approved by DEP. That could take some time to accomplish. In the meantime, it appears that the County Commissioners are working to keep the site open and hence, the Borough drop off site will reopen on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at 7 a.m. This is for Clarion Borough residents only.

Effective Immediately: Clarion Borough’s brush pile at the Public Works building is closed. The temporary closure is due to the permanent closure of Clarion County’s compost site at the County Park. Information will be posted on this website and will hopefully be carried on C-93 and reported in The Clarion News once available.
