Columbia Historic Market House Trust

THe following members were appointed to the Columbia Historic Market House Trust which meets the 1st Wednesday of the month at the Borough Council Chambers at 7:00pm:

3 Year Term: Ann Grubb, Nancy Jo Lutz, Don Haines

2 Year Term: Ed Schopf, Rebecca Murphy

1 year Term: Dave Rupp, Elaine Beckley

Ann Grub-3 Year Term: Ann’s vision of The Columbia Market House is seeking an opportunity for the community to create a successful, profitable market. The revitalization of Columbia is important to promote an environment supportive for locals and the many visitors that are encouraged to visit! Alot of that has been accomplished in the 5 years the market reopened and we must continue to provide a market we can be proud of and is the key to developing  the future. As member of the Market House Committee currently, Ann also brings experience having serving on Columbia Borough Council 1986-1994,  Member of The Susquehanna Valley Chamber Of Commerence Board and in her spare time she donates her time  promoting The town Of Columbia at the Columbia Vistor Center.  

Nancy Jo Lutz – 3 Year term: Nancy Jo’s vision is to see The Columbia Market House reach its fullest potential by being profitable for the citizens of Columbia, the Borough and the Standholders. Nancy Jo has been serving on the Columbia Market House Committee Board since its inception. Nacy Jo has been in the pblic service sector for over 25 years and served on the Lancaster Museum of Art Board for 9 years. She is a graduate of The Leadership Lancaster Program-class of 2005.

Don Haines – 3 year Term: Don’s vision is to continue the legacy of The Columbia Market House, promote it’s history, and it’s heritage.  Don brings experience currently serving as Chairman on the Columbia Planning Commision, formally served as President of The Columbia Historic Preservation Society, Currently serves a Chairman of The Columbia Haunted Lantern Tour and continues to volunteer where possible. Additionally, Don serves a volunteer represenative for the CDDC and CBDG of Columbia, WITF Our Town Production and has been an employee of the PLCB, as a licensing investigator for 16 years.

Edward Schopf -2 Year Term: Ed’s vision of The Columbia Market House is to help the market grow into its fullest potential. Ed was a previous stand holder in the market many years ago and has first hand experience in the value of the market.  Having a business background, Ed offers a ray of experience in economic changes.  He/His family has owned and operated a successful Yogurt Store located in Downtown Columbia until he retired, owns and currently manages many rental properties in York and Lancaster County, professionally serves as a member of The Mountville Authority Board and The Columbia Historic Preservation Society.

Rebecca Murphy 2 Year Term: Rebecca’s vision of The Columbia Market through the transition of the newly formed Trust is to help provide continuous support as the market grows to its fullest potential. Rebecca has lived in Columbia since 2002, particiaptes in many community involvments such as “Ghost Tours Of Columbia”, “Old Home Week” and the many “Christmas Tours.” She is a weekly shopper of the market and has attended the Columbia Market House Meetings in the past and active in the committee’s as present. Rebecca has a teaching background and teaches at Elizabeth Martin in Lancaster since 2001, active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and a member of The Garden Club, both located in Columbia, Pa.

David Rupp 1 Year Term: David’s vision of The Columbia Market House is to help the market become a vital asset of our community. David was on the Market House Committee in the past while serving on the Columbia Borough Council. David was a vital part in securing a consultant on behalf of the Market House to study and recommend potential improvements as we set forth today.  David is a resident of Columbia,  owns and operates “Home Maintenance Help:, located in Columbia and  has an Associates Degree in Industrial Engineering .

Elaine Beckley 1 Year Term: Elaine’s vision of The Columbia Market House is to help oversee its growth potential and its smooth transition to the formal Columbia Market House Trust. In the past, Elaine served on Columbia Borough Council filling in an appointed position filling a vacant spot, and  served as past Chair on The Columbia Market House Committee. Elaine is looking forward to helping serve as part of the Trust to ensure its viability for generations to come.

Carmen Swinehart , Outreach Coordinator/Market House Manager. Carmen’s vision of the Columbia Market House is to help continue the growth and its potential. Carmen provides  tours of the Historic Dungeon below grade level, presents opportunities to new standholders and acts as a viable asset to the public, current standholders and the newly formed Trust.

As a coordinator, Carmen attends all Market House Committees and Trust Board Meetings.  Carmen is a licensed professional realtor, has vast experience in managing rental properties, has experience in the unique nature of managing Market  House Properties; has developed through her years of experience in the Lancaster County real estate industry relationships with potential vendors and tenants for  The Columbia Market House and has similar professional experience.
