Zoning Office:
Jim Durkin – Office Hours at the Borough Building are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between the hours of 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Permit fees required as as follows:

* Procedure for Moosic Electrical and Plumbing Permits
* Sewer Permits are required for any on lot sewage system at $1,015.00 per EDU, and at the Glenmaura Section $1.315.00 per EDU.
* Occupancy Permits – $25.00
* Contractors License are required for any  contractor doing commerical work in the Borough with a fee of $75.00

Code Enforcement Officer:
This is an appointed position held by Willard Hughes. This position is responsible for enforcing compliance with the Borough’s building and housing codes. This position represents the starting point from which higher standards of livability and marketability may be developed in the future as our community continues to grow and improve.

Emergency Management Director:
Gerald Reilly

Health Inspector:
Marge Paglianite – responsible for inspection of all businesses that serve food or drink in the Borough. This is a yearly licensing fee of forty dollars ($40.00)

2012 Trash & Recycling Calendar

 

 The Department of Public Works urge all citizens in the Borough to have any collections put out before7: 00 a.m. of their scheduled days.

Our Borough officials recognize that recycling works. This program coincides with the regular garbage collection schedule. Borough wide pick up of hard cardboard takes place on the first Friday of every month. Ashes, grass clippings, branches and leaves are picked up every Thursday in Wards 1,2 and 3 every Thursday and every Friday in Wards 4-1 and 4-2.

All recyclable items include newspaper, magazines, glass, plastic, aluminum and tin cans. Recycling is not only the law but it reduces waste and saves our natural resources. Moosic Borough has been a recognized leader in the field of recycling for years in Lackawanna County.

Police Department:
Moosic Borough Police Department is maintained by Chief Charles Maurer. To protect and serve, the Borough has seven (7) full-time officers and approximately 12 part time officers.
