POLICE DEPARTMENT

CHIEF ROBERT TINSLEY

Chief Tinsley is a graduate of Ithaca College and taught health and physical education for several years before joining the Sharon Hill Police Department – first as a part time officer in April 1982 and then promoted to full time in January 1984.  Bob is married with three children and two grandchildren.  After joining the Sharon Hill Police Department, he eventually moved through the ranks from patrolman to sergeant and was promoted to chief on August 1, 2008.

SGT. GEORGE FAULKNER

Sgt. Faulkner was hired as a part time patrolman in October 1988 and was promoted to full time in January 1995.  On November 20, 2008, Sgt. Faulkner was promoted to the rank of sergeant.  George has training is accident investigations, Acutrak speed timing devices and is a certified instructor in the taser.  Sgt. Faulkner is the current president of the Sharon Hill Fire Company.

OFFICER JOSEPH AHERN

Officer Ahern started as a part time officer for the Sharon Hill Police Department in 1995.  He is a full time public safety officer at Villanova University and working on a bachelor’s degree in theology and philosophy.  Joe is certified in numerous training courses pertaining to law enforcement.

OFFICER MICHAEL A. ATTIX

Officer Attix has lived in Sharon Hill since 1977.  He graduated from Holy Spirit School and Monsignor Bonner High School.  He has been a member of the Sharon Hill Fire Company since 1986 and is currently assistant fire chief.  Michael has an associate degree in criminal justice from the Delaware County Community College.  He is a member of D.C.R.T. (Delaware County Response Team) and MIRT (Major Incident Response Team).  He was hired part time by the Sharon Hill Police Department in May 1991 and became a full time officer in February 1999.  Michael is currently the State Constable for the Sharon Hill Borough and a senior patrol officer for the Sharon Hill Police Department.

OFFICER ANTHONY W. BUCKLAND

Officer Buckland has been an officer for the Sharon Hill Police Department since 1994 and is also the department’s firearms instructor.  Tony was assigned as the department’s juvenile officer in 2008.  Tony’s past experience includes eight years as a military police officer with the United States Air Force.  He was also the sergeant in charge of the Southeast Delco School Police Department for ten years.

OFFICER BRIAN DEVANEY

Officer Devaney attended Penn State University where he received a bachelor’s degree in crime, law and justice.  After graduating from Penn State University in 2002, Brian attended the Delaware County Community College Municipal Police Academy.  He is currently enrolled at Wilmington University, where he is working on his master’s degree in criminal justice.  Brian has been working for the Sharon Hill Police Department since March 2003 and became a full time patrolman for the borough in August 2005.  He is also a member of the Delaware County Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT).

OFFICER JAMES FIORE

Officer Fiore joined the force in March of 2008.  Jim graduated from Academy Park High School in 2001. He also attended West Chester University and graduated in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in political science with an emphasis on criminal justice.  Jim graduated from the Delaware County Municipal Police Academy in December 2007 and earned his state certification in February 2007 before being sworn in as a member of Sharon Hill’s finest.  Officer Fiore is a part time patrolman with the Sharon Hill Police Department.

OFFICER RICHARD HERRON

Officer Herron was hired in January 2007 as a part time officer and was promoted to full time in January 2008.  Rick came to the Sharon Hill Police Department with a wealth of experience.  He has worked in law enforcement since 1996 and was previously employed as a narcotics agent for the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General.  Officer Herron is a graduate of Ridley High School and obtained an associate degree from Delaware County Community College in Criminal Justice.

OFFICER CHRISTOPHER HUGANIR

Officer Huganir was hired as a part time officer in april 2006.  He was promoted to full time in December 2008.  He previously worked for the Chester County Sheriff’s Office.  Chris attended Delaware County Community College and graduated from the Police Academy in December 2003.  Officer Huganir is also a handgun, shotgun rifle instructor.

OFFICER STEPHEN J. MUMMO

Officer Mummo joined the Sharon Hill Police Department in 1988 as a part time officer.  He holds an associate degree in criminal justice.  Stephen has work experience in loss prevention.  He recently worked as a training officer at the Delaware County 911 Center, until being promoted to full time as a police officer with Sharon Hill in November 2008.

OFFICER JOHN J. SCANLAN, III

Officer Scanlan graduated from Lycoming College with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.  For seven years, John was employed with Delaware County Juvenile Court as a juvenile probation officer.  He graduated from the Delaware County Municipal Academy and was hired as a part time officer by the Borough of Sharon Hill Police Department in February 2008.  Officer Scanlan was promoted to full time office in November 2008.

OFFICER JONATHAN ROSS

Officer Ross was born and raised in Chester City.  He attended St. Roberts Grade School (Now St. Katherine Drexel); he attended Cardinal O’Hara High School and graduated in 1999.  After high school, Officer Ross spent four years at Lycoming College, where he graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice.  Officer Ross then graduated from Delaware county Community College Municipal Police Academy in December, 2003.

In April of 2004, Officer Ross was hired by the Sharon Hill Borough Police Department where he worked for 2 1/2 years as a part-time patrolman.  During this time, Officer Ross was employed by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office where he was a member of the warrant unit and a firearms instructor.  In December 2006, Officer Ross resigned from Sharon Hill and the sheriff’s department and accepted a full time position for the City of Chester Police Department.  Officer Ross maintains his employment with the Chester City Police Department and works as a part-time officer for the Borough of Sharon Hill.

OFFICER BRIAN POT

Officer Pot joined the Sharon Hill Police Department as a part-time officer in January of 2009.  He graduated from Ridley High School in 1995 and then went to college at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.  Brian also attended the Delaware County Municipal Police Academy and earned his state certification in December 2008. 

OFFICER STEPHEN CAPIZZI

Officer Capizzi joined the Sharon Hill Police Department in January 2009.  After graduating from Academy Park High School in 2002, Officer Capizzi later attended the Delaware County Municipal Police Academy and earned his state certification in December 2008. 

OFFICER CHRISTOPHER DITTUS

Officer Dittus was born in Sharon Hill where he graduated from Academy Park High School in 2006.  He then spent the next 2 1/2 years at Penn State working towards a Forensic Toxicology degree.  He later went to the Delaware County Municipal Police Academy and graduated in December 2009.  Officer Dittus has been  member of the Sharon Hill Fire Company for four years and is currently an engineer.  He was hired as a part-time police officer in March 2010. 

OFFICER SEAN JOHNSON

Officer Johnson graduated from Marple Newtown Senior High School in June 2006.  He attended the Delaware County Police Academy from January 2008 until June of 2008.  He graduated with the Pennsylvania Chief of Police Association Drivers Award, and a GPA of 3.6.  Officer Johnson is a 3rd generation Police Officer and proudly accepted the position of part-time patrolman with the Sharon Hill Police Department in March of 2010.

OFFICER ROBERT TICKNOR

Officer Ticknor was born and raised in Ridley Township.  He graduated from Ridley High School in 1995.  Shortly after graduation Robert enlisted in the United States Marine Corps for five years, which included such duties as Shore Patrol and Brig Chaser.  In 2000 Robert entered the private sector as a Field Service Engineer, Technical Writer and also for two years he was the code Enforcement Officer for Prospect Park Borough.  All while going to school to further his education in 2009, Robert graduated from Delaware County Community college Municipal Police Academy as a class Lieutenant and with a Degree in Science.  Robert Continues his education currently on schedule to graduate in the fall of 2010 with a degree in Emergency Management.

OFFICER DAN LEICHT

Officer Dan Leicht, Jr. grew up in Collingdale.  He graduated from St. Joseph’s Elementry school in 2002, graduated from Monsignor Bonnor in 2006 and from the Delaware County Police Academy in 2008.  Dan was previously employeed by Delaware County Park Police from March 2008 until April of 2010.  Dan joined the Sharon Hill Police Department as a part-time patrolman in March of 2009.
